Ideal view, already at the tee

Ideal view, already at the tee

Christine Wolf clearly belongs to the elite on the golf course. This year alone, she has demonstrated her skills on the green at 32 top-class international tournaments. Style should not be neglected on the golf course, but the feel-good factor is even more important for the Innsbruck native. Whether teeing off or playing on the green: The perfectly fitting and ultra-stylish glasses from Athletes eyeware are part of the standard equipment of the successful golfer.

Early practice makes perfect - in terms of Christine Wolf's sporting career, this is not just a saying. Her love of golf began in Christine's childhood. At the age of ten, she was already standing on the green with her parents - themselves avid golfers - and working on her swings. Sport has always been important to the Tyrolean, no matter what form it takes.

"I tried a lot of different sports growing up, but got stuck with golf."

At the beginning, no one would have imagined that golf would one day become her profession. Even her parents first had to be convinced of the Innsbruck native's ambitious goal. But with a lot of motivation and passion, she quickly succeeded in getting her family to fully support her career aspirations.

From hobby to professional golf

The hard work paid off. During her youth and even while studying abroad in the USA, Christine was constantly on the golf courses to improve her game. As a result, the Tyrolean was already able to win the second official tournament in which she participated. On her way to becoming a professional golfer, good performances followed again and again with numerous tournament placements among the top 10.

In the meantime, Christine clearly belongs to the golf elite - not only in Austria. She is already playing tournaments on the top-class Ladies European Tour for the eleventh year. She is currently 43rd in the international rankings. A remarkable achievement, but not enough for the ambitious Tyrolean.

"I definitely want to be back in the top 15 or at least top 20 at the end of the year!"

Next destination: Olympia

The Ladies European Tour does not only play golf in Europe, Christine has already celebrated numerous international successes. In 2016 she teed off at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, and in 2019 she won her first tournament on the Ladies European Tour in India. The Innsbruck native also competed at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2021. Preparations for next year are already underway.

"One of my big goals now is the upcoming Olympics in Paris."

Same place, different game

What fascinates Christine most about golf is that every day on the course brings different challenges. Things like the weather, but also the psyche andphysical condition play important roles in every swing.

"You never really know what's coming - same course, same holes, but still every game is different."

In 2023, Christine will play a total of 32 official tournaments, which means she will spend at least 32 weeks of the year on international golf courses. The golfer from Innsbruck is particularly good at long shots, but she still sees room for improvement in her short and medium-length game.

Away from the tournaments, Christine therefore also regularly works on the finer points of the game at home with her coach. She therefore hopes to surpass her previous best performance in the upcoming tournaments and also at the 2024 Olympic Games.

Feel good when you tee off

Preparations for a golf tournament are always relatively similar - whether it's a small tournament or the Olympics. Physical and mental fitness are indispensable, but on site the weather forecasts are also analyzed and the course and grass are closely scrutinized.

Christine chooses the right equipment based on this. She can choose which clubs and balls she wants to use - as long as they comply with the rules. Since every golfer has different preferences, Christine has just one tip when it comes to equipment: the feel-good factor has to be right.

"If I feel comfortable with my equipment, that's half the battle. The brand doesn't matter, your own preference is all the more important."

With style on the golf course

Christine thinks similarly when choosing her show outfits. In addition to functionality and comfort, however, style must not be neglected. This is a trend that hasn't existed on the golf course for very long, because golf is not generally known as a very stylish sport. For a long time, strict clothing rules made it almost impossible to stand out when teeing off. Golf is slowly but surely becoming more casual, however, which the Innsbruck native is very happy about.

"As long as there's a collar on the T-shirt, by now, often nothing else matters."

Functionality and style are also important to Christine when it comes to choosing the right sunglasses. Of course, they must not slip when teeing off, but at the same time they must also protect her well from the sun and offer ideal vision. The perfectly fitting, polarizing and contrast-enhancing glasses from Athletes eyeware have therefore been accompanying the golfer from Innsbruck for some time now and will also provide her with the perfect view on the course during upcoming games.

"You almost don't feel the Athletes eyeware glasses, they make really good light and I feel very comfortable with them."

Cool sport, not only for the elite

Christine is very pleased that the looser clothing rules in golf are also bringing style into the tournaments. Golf still often has the image of a sport for the rich, she says. The strict rules have therefore probably often discouraged young people in particular from trying their hand on the course a few times. Christine hopes that more people will give the sport a chance in the future and that golf in general will become younger.

"Golf is a really cool sport - no matter how good or bad you are, you can always play together."

Athletes eyeware's stylish eyewear is also helping to break the "elite sport" image and make golf cooler internationally, Christine says.
